Does your club need a web site?  

If your club has been discussing the possibility of getting a web site, now is the time!

Your club can now get a web page at IowaLions.Org. There are two version of club web sites, Basic and Premium.

The Basic site includes:

Calendar of Events:
Promote all your upcoming events whether it is a fish fry, pancake breakfast, Glaucoma or Coming To Your Senses Screening, whatever it is you want to promote. You will get the added benefit of getting to add your event to the online district calendar if you wish.

Announcements:
Keep everyone up to date on events or happenings within your club. Address a current topic, make a big deal of an anniversary, announce a special visitor to a club meeting - if it is newsworthy to your club, announce it!

Your club information:
If a prospective new member wants to join your club, they will know who the leadership is plus when and where the group meets.

Email notification:
All members of your club are notified via email of the updated announcement and any event on the calendar immediately. No more calling around to make sure members know about an upcoming event or whther they got the new about that important announcement.

Immediate links from this state web site
The minute you request your web site, it will be created and you will have access to begin updating your site.

Easy to update:
All the tools to add and maintain your web site are available to your club leadership just by logging in here. No fancy web tools or languages to learn, a simple cut-and-paste operation is as tough as it will get. All updates occur immediately.

Automatic link:
Your club's new web site is automatically and immediately linked in the appropriate places on the Lions Clubs of Iowa state web site as well as our District web site here. No need to contact these webmasters, it is done for you immediately and automatically.

All Basic sites are text only for your club information. No photo editing software or knowledge is required.

The Premium site includes all of the above PLUS:

Announcements: General club announcements are front and center on the home page. Complete with photos!

News & Events: Pat that club member on the back who just won an award, show those volunteers at the clean-up day how much you appreciate them. Complete with photos!

Upcoming Activities: Make sure that everyone knows about that wonderful upcoming event. Show how much fun you had last time with this activity! Complete with photos!

For Premium sites you will need to be able to get photos with a digital camera or scan in prints to take full advantage of this package. A rudimentary knowledge of photo-editing software for the purpose or resizing these files will be required.

How much?
The cost for a BASIC web site is only $15.00 per year. The PREMIUM site is only $35.00 per year. See the sign up directions below to get started.

Why should I get the Premium vs. Basic site or vice-versa?
The fundamental difference between the two types of sites is primarily that of uploading photographs. If you or a club member has a digital camera and/or a scanner and some photo editing software, then the Premium site might be for you. If no one in your club has these types of resources, then you might want to stick with the Basic web site.

How do you get started?
First of all you need to check out your club leadership at the Lions Clubs of Iowa web site located at www.iowalions.org/cgi-bin/districtinfo.pl?1~6. It may or may not be entirely up to date, but that is the leadership of record when the database was built. To get your club's web site, you need to contact one of the people on that leadership list and have them log in to My Iowa Lions Info. Once they have logged in, they will see a link on the left-hand side that says "Get Your Club and IowaLions.Org Web Site". From this link they just have to double check some information and click a button and your site will be built immediately.
